Jari Markus Puikkonen  (born June 25,   1959  in Lahti  ) is a former Finnish   ski jumper  . He jumped for the club Lahden Hiihtoseura  in his hometown.
Career He made his debut at an international tournament on December 30, 1977 at the Four Hills Tournament  in Oberstdorf  . Just a few days later he achieved his first place in the top ten with a seventh place on the Innsbruck   Bergisel  . In 1981 he also won his first World Cup competition at Bergisel; in the overall ranking of the Four Hills Tournament he was third, in the World Cup he won three more victories in the winter of 1980/81 and was fifth in the overall ranking.
However, Puikkonen achieved his greatest successes at world championships and the Olympic Games. At the 1980 Winter Olympics  in Lake Placid  , he won the bronze medal in the individual competition on the large hill, the bronze medal on the normal hill in Sarajevo  in 1984  and then gold in the team competition in  Calgary  in  1988  .
 
At the Ski Flying World Championships in  1981 in Oberstdorf he won  the gold medal, at the Nordic Ski World Championships in 1982  in Oslo  the silver medal on the normal hill and bronze with the Finnish team, in 1984 gold at the first and one-time World Team Championships in Engelberg  , 1985  silver in Seefeld  on the large hill and gold in team jumping, and finally in 1989  in Lahti  gold on the large hill and in team jumping. After the 1990/91 season he ended his career.
