history

Places in the municipality are mentioned for the first time in connection with raids by the Normans. Because of its good traffic situation between important places, two castellanes were founded to secure the roads. During the wars of the Middle Ages, the village was destroyed and plundered several times. The place was first mentioned by name as Sancti Cledei in 1389 . Up until the French Revolution, various noble families administered the area of the present-day community. From 1793 to 1801, Saint-Clet was part of the Pontrieux district . From 1793 to 2015 the place belonged to the canton of Pontrieux . Administratively, Saint-Clet has also been part of the Guingamp arrondissement since 1801 .
