Science Express
The Science Express was an exhibition train that houses the science exhibition Expedition Future . The train drove to over sixty cities in Germany from April to November 2009 and was open to visitors there for several days. After the end of the tour, there was no subsequent use for the train, although this had been promised beforehand with a view to the costs. This also leads to a political controversy in the Bundestag about the project. Since January 2011, the train has been unused on a military base in Brandenburg. Another use, for example abroad, was considered, but has not been implemented since then.
The exhibition showed current trends in research and development that will shape our lives beyond 2010. The train consisted of twelve themed cars. The exhibition was designed by the Max Planck Society in Munich. The costs of seven million euros were funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research .
The locomotives
The German Bahn AG placed two for the science train electric locomotives of the 110 series one. 110 325 and 110 329 were pasted by the Deutsche Bahn AG in the special color variant “Expedition Future”. Both locomotives have now been scrapped after the deadline.
