history

First mention

The first written mention in a document defining the boundaries of the wild bans by Emperor Otto III. dated May 1, 1000. The Emperor granted Bishop Heinrich von Würzburg the ban on wild animals over the forest belonging to the castellum Bernheim and Villa Liuthereshusun . Galemaresgarden is named as the first border point in this document. The place name consists of the basic word garto, gardo ( ahd. Enclosed property, fenced place) and the final word Galamar , a male, Germanic personal name.

In 1261/62 Albert von Hohenlohe bequeathed his court in Gallmersgarten to Heilsbronn Monastery . In the period that followed, the monastery was given a slope that belonged to a Rothenburg priest.

At the end of the 18th century there were 14 properties in Gallmersgarten. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Schultheißenamt Burgbernheim . The mayor's office in Burgbernheim and the imperial city of Windsheim jointly held village and community rulership . The landlords were the Schultheißenamt Burgbernheim (3 courtyards, 2 half courtyards, 2 estates, 1 house, 1 beer tap), the imperial city of Windsheim (1 Häckersgut), the Johanniterkommende Rothenburg (1 house), the parish Steinach (1 courtyard, 1 small estate) and the Würzburgische Juliusspital - administration office Burgbernheim (1 estate).

In the geographical statistical-topographical lexicon of Franconia (1800) the place is described as follows:

“ Galmersgarten, Brandenburg hamlet with 12 municipal rights, 8 of which are Brandenburg, 2 Rothenburg, 1 Johanniter and 1 Windsheim. The place is parish after Steinach under Endsee. Brandenburg has the Fraisch, the Hirtenstaab and on the tithe 2 ⁄ 3 . A third part has belonged to the Rothenburg Tax Office since 1698. The Rothenburg subjects pay 4 services for their rule. A few years ago a house and 2 barns burned down in the village. "

In 1810 Gallmersgarten came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, it was assigned to the Burgbernheim tax district in 1811 . In 1817 the rural community Burgbernheim was formed, to which Gallmersgarten belonged. With the second community edict (1818), Gallmersgarten broke up with Bergtshofen and formed its own rural community. The rural community Gallmersgarten was subordinate in administration and jurisdiction to the district court Windsheim and in the financial administration to the Ipsheim rent office . From 1862 Gallmersgarten was administered by the Uffenheim District Office (renamed the Uffenheim District in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Windsheim Rent Office ( renamed Windsheim Tax Office in 1920 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Windsheim until 1879, from 1880 District Court of Windsheim . In 1961 the municipality had an area of ​​4.822 km².

Incorporations

On January 1, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Steinach an der Ens was incorporated. Mörlbach joined on January 1, 1978.

In the period from 1988 to 2018, the population stagnated or decreased minimally from 772 to 771 by one inhabitant or 0.1%.

Founding of the coat of arms: Gallmersgarten has consisted of the formerly independent communities Steinach ad Ens, Mörlbach and Gallmersgarten since 1978. The two silver battle axes are taken from the coat of arms of the Lords of Morelbach and represent the town of Mörlbach. The red eagle head is the Brandenburg coat of arms in a reduced form and reminds of the former rule of the margraves of Bayreuth. The black eagle in gold is the imperial eagle in a diminished form. He points to the imperial city of Rothenburg , which had landlord claims in the municipality.
