Uhorská Ves (German Ungereiden , Hungarian Magyarfalu ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 500 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Liptovský Mikuláš , part of the Žilinský kraj and is part of the traditional Liptov region .
geography
The village is located in the Liptovská kotlina basin (part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina ) on the left bank of the Váh . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 608 m nm and is seven kilometers from Liptovský Mikuláš .
There is a sour spring north of the village.
Neighboring municipalities are Beňadiková in the north, Jamník in the northeast, Podtureň in the east and Liptovský Ján in the south and west; the Vislavce exclave also borders on Liptovská Porúbka .
history
Uhorská Ves was first mentioned in writing in 1230 as Mogiorfolu ; it is said to be the oldest documented village in Liptov. At that time the area belonging to the village was much larger, but in the course of time villages such as Hybe , Beňadiková, Liptovský Ondrej , Konská and others separated. The village used to be inhabited by border guards, later it belonged to the Szentiványi family . In 1828 there were 24 houses and 238 inhabitants who were employed in rafting, wood processing and agriculture.
Until 1918, the place in Liptov County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Uhorská Ves had 459 inhabitants, 440 of whom were Slovaks, five Roma and one Czech; two residents were of a different ethnicity. Eleven residents did not provide any information. 157 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB, 138 residents the Roman Catholic Church, four residents the Apostolic Church, three residents the Evangelical Methodist Church, two residents the Greek Catholic Church and one resident each to the Seventh-day Adventists and Jehovah's Witnesses and the Brethren Church and the Czechoslovak-Hussite Church; two residents were of other denominations. 118 inhabitants were without religious affiliation and the denomination was not determined for 31 residents.
