Pavlova Ves (until 1927 Slovak also "Pavlovejsa"; Hungarian Pálfalu , older Pálfalva ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 267 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Liptovský Mikuláš , part of the Žilinský kraj , and belongs to traditional landscape Liptov is counted.

The community is located in the middle of the Liptovská kotlina basin (part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina ) below the Western Tatras by the Petruška brook . The center of the village is located at an altitude of 620 m nm and is seven kilometers from Liptovský Mikuláš .
In addition to the actual cadastral municipality of Pavlova Ves, the municipality also includes the cadastral municipality of Babky, which comprises a strip of land in the Western Tatras north and south of Mount Babky ( 1566 m nm ).
Neighboring municipalities are Bobrovček in the north, Bobrovec in the east, Liptovský Trnovec in the south-west and Liptovské Beharovce in the north-west.
history
Pavlova Ves was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1469 as Pawlowa vieska and belonged to the territory of the Likava Castle , which pledged the village to the Pongrácz and Kubínyi families in the 17th and 18th centuries . In 1715 there was a mill and 12 taxpayers in Pavlova Ves, in 1784 the village had 47 houses and 385 inhabitants. In 1828 there were 56 houses and 532 residents who were employed as carters, farmers and carpenters, and from the 18th century they were also beer brewers and schnapps distillers. Various crafts such as B. basketry and weaving were common.
The place in Liptov County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia and finally to Slovakia. In 1945 half of the village burned down during the retreat of the German Wehrmacht.

According to the 2011 census, Pavlova Ves had 248 residents, including 233 Slovaks , seven Roma , four Poles , two residents of other ethnic groups and one Czech . One resident gave no information about ethnicity .
148 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 27 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, two residents to the Christian communities and one resident to the Jehovah's Witnesses; one resident professed a different denomination. 61 residents had no denomination and eight residents had no denomination.
