Pavčina Lehota (until 1927 "Pavčiná Lehôta" in Slovak; Paucsinalehota in Hungarian ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 396 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Liptovský Mikuláš , part of the Žilinský kraj , and is part of the traditional Liptov region is counted.

The municipality is located in the middle of the Liptovská kotlina basin (part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina ) below the Low Tatras in the Demänovka valley below the confluence with the Javorovica brook , in the basin of the Váh . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 692  m nm and is eight kilometers from Liptovský Mikuláš .

Neighboring municipalities are Liptovský Mikuláš (districts Bodice and Demänová ) in the north and northeast, Demänovská Dolina in the east and south, Lazisko in the west and Svätý Kríž in the northwest.

history

Pavčina Lehota was first mentioned in writing in 1365 as Lehota and was owned by the Bodickzky family . After the Bodiczky died out, the Palugyay and Okolicsányi families owned local estates . In 1784 the village had 18 houses and 180 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 21 houses and 207 inhabitants who worked as farmers and forest workers.

The place in Liptov County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia and finally to Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 349 inhabitants in Pavčiná Lehota, including 335 Slovaks , nine Czechs and one Moravian . Four residents did not give any information about their ethnicity .

177 residents committed themselves to the Evangelical Church AB, 64 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, seven residents each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Orthodox Church and two residents to the Christian communities; three residents professed a different denomination. 78 residents had no denomination and 11 residents had no denomination.
