Jakubovany (1920-1946 Slovak "Jakuboväny"; Hungarian Jakabfalu ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with a population of 367 (December 31, 2019) that the Liptovský Mikuláš District of, part kraj Žilinský heard and the traditional landscape Liptov counted becomes.

The village is located in the central part of the Liptovská kotlina basin (part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina ) in the Trnovec brook valley below the Western Tatras . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 715  m nm and is 11 kilometers from Liptovský Mikuláš .

The town of Hôra , which was incorporated in 1924 (mentioned in writing in 1353) , also belongs to the municipality .

Neighboring municipalities are Jamník in the north and east, Liptovský Ondrej in the south and west and Konská in the north-west.

history

In today's municipality there were the settlements of Hôra, Jakubovany and Javor, which later merged into a single place. Javor was first mentioned in writing in 1286 and Jakubovany in 1352 and was named after the local patronage. The village was owned by the Pongrácz families , partly Pottornay . In 1784 Jakubovany had 23 houses and 202 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 27 houses and 179 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.

The place in Liptov County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia and finally to Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 389 residents lived in Jakubovany, 369 of them Slovaks and one Magyar and one Czech . 18 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity.

250 residents committed themselves to the Evangelical Church AB, 57 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, two residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church and one resident each to the Greek Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church and the Reformed Church. Two residents had no denomination and the denomination of 48 residents was not determined.
