Partizánska Ľupča (until 1946 "Nemecká Ľupča"; German Deutschliptsch , Hungarian Németlipcse ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia . It is located in the Podtatranská kotlina basin , 15 km from Ružomberok and 20 km from Liptovský Mikuláš .
The place was founded by German miners and first mentioned in writing in 1252. The emerging town received extensive mining rights in 1270. This makes it the oldest town in Liptov . However, the mineral resources dried up very quickly, causing the city to decline into a village. The German population in the village was completely absorbed into the Slovak language group as early as the 19th century. After 1945 the name suffix “Nemecká” (German) was replaced by “Partizánska” (“Partisans”).
In addition to the main town, the municipality also includes the villages of Magurka (incorporated in 1882) and Železné in the Low Tatras .
