Malé Borové (Hungarian Kisborove ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 117 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Liptovský Mikuláš , part of the Žilinský kraj and is part of the traditional Liptov region .
geography
The municipality is located on the southeast slope of the Skorušinské vrchy mountains in the source area of the Sviniarsky potok brook . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 880 m nm and is 31 kilometers from Tvrdošín and 34 kilometers from Liptovský Mikuláš .
The settlement of Novoť, which was incorporated into the municipality in the 1880s, also belongs to the municipality.
Neighboring communities are Krivá in the north. Huty in the east, Veľké Borové in the south and Chlebnice in the west.
history
The village, which consists of individual settlements, arose in the 16th century after settlement by Gorals from the upper Arwa , was first mentioned in writing in 1550 and was owned by the noble Joob family . Until the late 18th century, the place was together with Veľké Borové a municipality. In 1784 the village had 43 houses and 299 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 64 houses and 419 inhabitants who were employed as farmers, shepherds, home glassmakers and craftsmen.
Until 1918, the place in Liptov County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Malé Borové had 172 inhabitants, including 166 Slovaks , two Germans and one Czech . Three residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .
162 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church. Four residents were non-denominational and the denomination of six residents was not determined.
