Trstené (until 1927 Slovak "Trsteno" or "Trstenné"; Hungarian Nádasd , older Nádas ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with a population of 222 (December 31, 2019) that the Liptovský Mikuláš District of, part kraj Žilinský heard and is part of the traditional Liptov landscape .
geography
The community is located in the central part of the basin Liptovská kotlina (part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina ) below the Western Tatras the stream Jalovčanka . The center of the village is at an altitude of 640 m nm and is four kilometers from Liptovský Mikuláš .
Neighboring communities are Jalovec in the north, Smrečany in the east, Liptovský Mikuláš (district Liptovská Ondrašová ) in the south and Bobrovec in the west.
history
Remains of settlements from the Hallstatt period and the Puchau culture were found in the municipality of Trstené .
Trstené was first mentioned in writing in 1269 as Nadasd . Until 1848 the village was owned by the Trsztenszky family , later called Baan . In 1715 there were ten taxpayers in the village, in 1784 the village had 29 houses and 293 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 32 houses and 320 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and forest workers.
The place in Liptov County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia and finally to Slovakia.
The Slovak and Hungarian place names are derived from the occurrence of reeds in local moors.

According to the 2011 census, Trstené had 234 inhabitants, 214 of them Slovaks , two Czechs and one German . 17 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
100 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 51 residents to the Evangelical Church AB and ten residents to the Seventh-day Adventists. 36 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 37 residents was not determined.
Buildings and monuments
- Roman Catholic Church of All Saints in late Romanesque style from the 13th century, rebuilt in 1830. In the church there was an image of the Madonna in a Gothic frame from the years 1460–1470, which can be seen in Budapest today.
