Bobrovček (until 1927 Slovak and "Bobroveček"; Hungarian Kisbobróc ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with a population of 176 (December 31, 2019) that the Liptovský Mikuláš District of, part kraj Žilinský heard and the traditional landscape Liptov counted becomes.

The municipality is located in the middle of the Liptovská kotlina basin (part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina ) below the Western Tatras , at the confluence of the Petruška source streams . The center of the village is at an altitude of 661  m nm and is ten kilometers from Liptovský Mikuláš .

Neighboring municipalities are Pavlova Ves (cadastral municipality Babky) in the west and north, Jalovec in the east and Bobrovec in the south.

history

Bobrovček was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1231 as Hodos and belonged to the territory of the Likava Castle , from the 1780s to the Okolicsányi family . In 1715 there was a mill and 16 taxpayers in the village, in 1784 the village had 53 houses and 498 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 59 houses and 596 inhabitants who were employed as spirits distillers and sellers, pitch makers and carpenters.

The place in Liptov County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia and finally to Slovakia. In the first Czechoslovak Republic, agriculture was the main source of income, but handicrafts were also widespread. In a fire in 1946, 32 residential houses, 36 farm buildings and 16 granaries were destroyed.

The place is named after beavers that used to live along the Petruška brook . Thus the place name means something like "Kleinbibersdorf".

According to the 2011 census, there were 174 inhabitants in Bobrovček, all of them Slovaks .

92 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 66 residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Greek Catholic Church. 12 residents had no denomination and the denomination of three residents was not determined.
