Malužiná (until 1927 Slovak "Maluzina"; Hungarian Maluzsina ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with a population of 230 (December 31, 2019) that the Liptovský Mikuláš District of, part kraj Žilinský heard and the traditional landscape Liptov is counted .

Malužiná

The municipality is located in the Low Tatras on the Boca river , where it joins the Malužiná stream on the right . The municipality is heavily forested, mountainous and includes part of the Bocianska dolina and large parts of the Malužinská dolina up to the main ridge of the Low Tatras. There are a few caves in the immediate vicinity. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 733  m nm and is 12 kilometers from Liptovský Hrádok and 22 kilometers from Liptovský Mikuláš .

Neighboring municipalities are Kráľova Lehota in the north, Východná in the east, Polomka in the south-east, Nižná Boca and Vyšná Boca in the south and Liptovská Porúbka in the west.

history

Building of the former chamber courtyard

The present village was founded relatively late in the middle of the 18th century, but the place name Maluzyn already existed in 1363. Malužiná was part of the domain of Liptovský Hrádok and housed an ore works from 1767 to 1807, which processed the iron ore extracted in the area. After its closure, a copper hammer mill was built at the same location, and a glassworks worked in the village until 1885. In 1828 there were 60 houses and 291 inhabitants. In 1896, a molding factory was founded on the site of the former glassworks, which existed until 1961.

The place in Liptov County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia and finally to Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Malužiná had 264 residents, including 261 Slovaks , two Czechs and one Magyar .

132 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 45 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB, three residents supported the Greek Catholic Church, two residents supported the Evangelical Methodist Church and one inhabitant supported the Jehovah's Witnesses. 49 residents had no denomination and 32 residents had no denomination.

The 1st order road 72 runs through the outskirts of Malužiná from Kráľova Lehota to Podbrezová through the Čertovica saddle . The nearest rail connection is the Kráľova Lehota station, six and a half kilometers away on the Košice – Žilina railway line .
