The University for Foreigners Perugia ( Italian : Università per Stranieri di Perugia ) is a state university in Perugia and, alongside the University for Foreigners in Siena, one of two universities in Italy that is designed for foreign students. Perugia University for Foreigners has around 2,400 students and 150 academic staff.
Perugia University for Foreigners was founded in 1925 , has been an independent university since 1992 and mostly offers courses for and about Italian language and culture. The current rector of the AU Perugia is Giuliana Grego Bolli.
One of the most famous former students of this university is Amanda Knox , who was charged with murder in Italy and was acquitted in the fall of 2011.
