World Marathon Majors 2008/09
The third series of the World Marathon Majors started on April 13, 2008 and ended on November 1, 2009
Rating
Twelve races were included in the ranking of this running cup : the Boston , London , Berlin , Chicago and New York City marathons in 2008 and 2009 as well as the marathons of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin.
Points were awarded as follows, with a maximum of four results being scored for each runner:
- 25 for a win
- 15 for a second place
- 10 for a third place
- 5 for fourth place
- 1 for fifth place
After the Chicago Marathon in 2009, Samuel Kamau Wanjiru and Irina Mikitenko were already certain as winners. Both received $ 500,000 in prize money. Mikitenko had already won the 2007/08 series.
