Buschwiller (Alsatian Büschwiller , German Buschweiler ) is a French commune with 1,040 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Mulhouse and the canton of Saint-Louis .
geography
The municipality of Buschwiller is located on the south-eastern edge of the Sundgau , about five kilometers west of downtown Basel .
Neighboring communities of Buschwiller are Hésingue in the north, Hégenheim in the east, Allschwil , Schönenbuch (both Swiss communities) and Hagenthal-le-Bas in the south, Wentzwiller in the west and Attenschwiller in the north-west.
history
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Buschwiller belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Mulhouse in the district of Upper Alsace .
