Chambon is a French municipality with 928 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Rochefort and is part of the canton of Surgères . The inhabitants are called Chambonnais .
geography
Chambon is located about 23 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle and about 22 kilometers north-northeast of Rochefort in the historic Aunis region . Chambon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Puyravault in the north, Surgères in the east, Saint-Pierre-la-Noue in the south-east, Landrais in the south, Forges in the west and Virson in the north-west.
