Marcenat ( Occitan : Marcenac ) is a French municipality with 515 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Flour and the canton of Riom-ès-Montagnes (until 2015 Condat ). The inhabitants are called Marcenatais .
geography
Marcenat is located about 50 kilometers north-northeast of Aurillac and about 55 kilometers south-southwest of Clermont-Ferrand in the north of the Cantal department. The mountain village is part of the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Nature Park . Neighboring municipalities are Condat in the north and north-west, Montgreleix in the north and north-east, Anzat-le-Luguet in the east, Pradiers in the south-east, Ladeyrat in the south, Saint-Bonnet-de-Condat in the south and south-west and Lugarde in the west and south-west.
