Masseret ( Mas sera to Occitan ) is a French municipality with 676 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Correze in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality is a member of the Pays d'Uzerche municipal association . The inhabitants call themselves Masserétois (es).
geography
The community lies on the edge of the Massif Central and, along with Salon-la-Tour, is the gateway to the Corrèze. The center is located on a hill that dominates the mountain pass that allows the passage between the Haut and Bas Limousin . The river Auvézère has its source in the municipality of Masseret. The river Forges runs along the eastern border of the municipality .
Tulle , the prefecture of the department, is about 40 kilometers southeast, Brive-la-Gaillarde about 50 kilometers south and Uzerche about 14 kilometers southeast. The place is directly at exit 43 of the Autoroute A20 .
Neighboring communities of Masseret are La Porcherie in the north, Lamongerie in the east, Salon-la-Tour in the south and Benayes in the west.
