history
In the area around Sainte-Fortunade, traces of settlement from prehistoric times can be found, including the so-called disappeared dolmen of Clairfarge as a former witness of the megalithic era . This also included a "trunk road" from the Bronze and Iron Ages between Aremorica and the Mediterranean Sea that probably passed near Sainte-Fortunade . This seems to be borne out by the large number of flint finds. The Celts and Romans also left their mark on the municipality. Until 894 the castle and place were called Saint Martial le Noir , after the arrival of the relics of St. Fortunade, the place was renamed after her.
Municipal coat of arms

The coat of arms of Sainte-Fortunade is the old coat of arms of the Counts of Lavour of Sainte-Fortunade. On the left, three rocks of gold arranged in a chessboard-like pattern, on the right a crowned lion on a gold background.
