Hautefage ( Auta Faja in Occitan ) is a French municipality with 313 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Correze in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The inhabitants call themselves the Hautefageois (es).
geography
The municipality is located in the Massif Central , in the Xaintrie , not far from the reservoir of Hautefage ( Barrage de Hautefage ) and is surrounded by extensive forests. The prefecture of the Tulle department is located about 35 kilometers to the northwest and Argentat 8 kilometers to the west.
Neighboring municipalities of Hautefage are Servières-le-Château in the north, Saint-Geniez-ô-Merle in the east, Sexcles in the southeast, Mercœur in the south, La Chapelle-Saint-Géraud in the southwest, Argentat-sur-Dordogne with Argentat in the west and Saint -Martial-Entraygues in the northwest.
