North Korea took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the tenth participation in the Summer Olympics. The Olympic Committee of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea nominated 35 athletes in nine sports.

North Korea was ranked 34th in the medal table. Olympic champions were the weightlifter Rim Jong-sim and the gymnast Ri Se-gwang .
