Petar Aleksandrov (also Petar Aleksandrov , Bulgarian Петър Александров ; born December 7, 1962 in Karlovo ) is a Bulgarian football coach and former football player . Petar Aleksandrow has achieved a goal rate of over 0.5 goals / game in over 400 league games with his clubs.
Career
player
He played as a striker. He started his career at Levski (Karlowo) - in regional soccer group B he had 26 games and 10 goals (1981/82). In the A Grupa he scored 110 goals (100 goals for Slavia Sofia and 10 goals for Levski Sofia ). He completed 185 games in A Grupa (173 games for Slavia Sofia from 1982 to 1989 and 12 games for Levski Sofia from 1994).
With Levski Sofia he won the national cup title in 1994 (National Cup Bulgaria - Национална купа на България по футбол). He won the bronze medal in 1982 and 1986 with Slavia Sofia. For Slavia Sofia he played 4 games in the UEFA Cup . From 1989 to 1991 he played for Kortrijk (Belgium) (1989/90) and for Energie Cottbus (1990/91). He then played for the Swiss FC Aarau (autumn 1991 to autumn 1993 and autumn 1998 to spring 2000), football club Neuchâtel Xamax (1994/95), FC Luzern (autumn 1995 to spring 1998), Baden (spring 2000), Kickers (2000 / 2001) and Blue Stars (autumn 2001). He scored a total of 117 goals. In 1992/93 he won the Swiss championship with FC Aarau and was voted the best foreigner in the league. In 1997 he was a finalist in the Swiss Cup with FC Luzern.
He was twice the top scorer in the top Swiss league (1995 with 24 goals for Neuchâtel Xamax, and 1996 with 19 goals for FC Luzern). He was a participant in the SP-1994, but was not used in the game.
He made his international debut on September 10, 1986 against Scotland in the Euro qualification (0-0). For the national selection he played 25 games and scored five goals. He was considered a strong attacker who acted with both feet and was also known for his header goals. He was assistant to Krassimir Balakow at Grasshopper Club Zurich , coach for the amateur team at FC Aarau and assistant coach at PAOK Thessaloniki .
Trainer
After retiring as a player, Aleksandrow stayed in Switzerland and managed the reserve of FC Aarau from 2002 to 2004, until he became assistant manager at the Greek club PAOK Thessaloniki .
In 2006 he was appointed assistant to his compatriot Krassimir Balakow at FC St. Gallen . After a few months, however, he left the club to join the coaching team at the Grasshopper Club Zurich. Plamen Markov appointed him in 2008 as his assistant in the Bulgarian national football team .
In June 2015, Aleksandrow became the assistant coach of Patrick Rahmen at FC Biel-Bienne in the Challenge League . Aleksandrow has been the head coach of FC Biel-Bienne since February 26, 2016, when Patrick Rahmen moved to FC Luzern.
