Radical 175 with the meaning " error , injustice " is one of 9 of the 214 traditional radicals in Chinese writing that are written with eight strokes.
Radical error only occupies 175th position in the long - character list of traditional radicals , which consists of 214 radicals. It can be found in a completely different place in modern abbreviation dictionaries. In the New Chinese-German Dictionary from the People's Republic of China, for example, it is in 205th position.
To understand this radical one has to imagine a tree that is split into two parts: pian ( radical 91 ), that is the right half and qiang ( radical 90 ), the left half. The radical therefore consists of two identical, but reversed characters, which results in "wrong".
靠 (= lean) initially meant back to back. 告 (gao) is the sound carrier in 靠 (kao). In most cases, 非 acts as a sound carrier in compound characters such as in 扉 (= door), 霏 (in 霏霏 = falling tightly, for example rain), 菲 (= plant scent), 啡 (in 咖啡 = coffee), 腓 (= calf ), 匪 (= bandit) and 悲 (= tragedy).
