Radical 181 , meaning " head ", is one of eleven of the 214 traditional radicals in Chinese writing that are written with nine strokes.

Radikal Kopf only occupies the 181st position in the long - character list of traditional radicals , which consists of 214 radicals. It can be found in a completely different place in modern abbreviation dictionaries. In the New Chinese-German Dictionary from the People's Republic of China, for example, it is in 170th position.

The seal mark shows a person (人 ren) with a very large head that is thereby emphasized. Originally 頁 actually meant head. In composite characters, 頁 usually appears as a bearer of meaning and then creates the meaning field head as in 顶 (= highest point), 颅 (= skull), 项 (= neck), 颈 (= neck), 额 (= forehead) and 颜(= Face). The original meaning of 题 (= topic) is forehead, hence the head component 頁.

The relationship to the head is also in顾(= to look),顿(= pause, actually meant kowtow )叩头(= devotion gesture to the Emperor),硕(= great, actually meant big head),领(ling = collar, originally meant neck), 颇 (= tilted to one side, originally: side of the head).
