The Millî Lig 1959/60 was the second season of the top Turkish league in men's football . It started on August 26, 1959 with the 1st matchday with the game Galatasaray Istanbul against Beykozspor and ended on June 12, 1960 between Fenerbahçe Istanbul against Beşiktaş Istanbul .
Beşiktaş Istanbul officially became Turkish football champions for the first time in the club's history. The club won the Federation Cup twice before the league was founded , but these titles were not officially recognized until May 9, 2002. Fenerbahçe Istanbul was runner-up this season .
