    Play-offs

The teams that found themselves in places two to five at the end of the Super League season played for the European starting places in the so-called play-offs, a mini elimination tournament. The clubs that had occupied places two to four in the regular season were given a point advantage over those who placed fifth (the difference in points is divided by five and then rounded off). The winners of the playoffs were sure to take part in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League . The runner-up qualified for the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, the third placed started as a cup winner in the play-offs and the fourth in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.
