Totus Tuus Poloniae populus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Totus Tuus Poloniae populus ( Latin for the whole of the Polish people) is a papal bull of John Paul II. It was published on March 25, 1992 and reorganized the Polish bishoprics. It was the biggest reorganization since 1945. The organization was adjusted in 2004.

Details

The main principle was to bring the bishops closer to the faithful. For this purpose, the areas of the archdioceses and dioceses were reduced. Eight dioceses were raised to the rank of archbishopric. The personal union of the Archdiocese of Gniezno and Warsaw was canceled. 10 archbishops , 7 bishops , 11 ordinaries and 11 auxiliary bishops were transferred.
