William Woodward (politician)

William Woodward was an American politician . Between 1815 and 1817 he represented the state of South Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

The date of birth and death of William Woodward is not known. It is the same with the places of birth and death. His youth and education are also in the dark. What is certain is that as a candidate for the Democratic Republican Party from 1818 to 1823, he was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives .

In the congressional election of 1814 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fifth constituency of South Carolina . There he took over from David R. Evans on March 4, 1815 . Woodward served only one term in Congress until March 3, 1817 . Then his seat fell to Starling Tucker .

There is also no information about the further résumé of William Woodward. He was the father of Joseph A. Woodward (1806-1885), who also represented the state of South Carolina in the US House of Representatives between 1843 and 1853.
