Audi 80 / A4

The Audi 80 (since 1994: A4 ) has been the name of the mid- range model series from Audi since the late summer of 1972 . Internally, this series is also referred to as "B-Type".

The predecessor model was the Audi F103 series , which was named as Audi 60 , 75 , 80 and Super 90 after its output in hp . The name Audi 80 was then adopted for the entire model series and replaced by the A4 in autumn 1994 .

The A4 is the company's most-produced vehicle and in 2007 was in fourth place in the German registration statistics behind the VW Golf , VW Passat and BMW 3 Series . Private customers make up only a small part of A4 new car buyers. In 2014, 88.1% of all Audi A4s sold in Germany were registered commercially. The share of vehicles with diesel engines was 87.6%.

In October 2011, the ten millionth B-series vehicle was produced.

At the 2015 IAA , Audi presented the Audi A4 B9 , which went on sale shortly afterwards. For the first time, sedans and station wagons were brought onto the market at the same time.
