Ballon is a French municipality with 795 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of Rochefort , to the canton of Surgères (until 2015: canton Aigrefeuille-d'Aunis ) and is a member of the community association Aunis Sud . The inhabitants are called Ballonais .
geography
Ballon is located about 16 kilometers southeast of La Rochelle in the historic Aunis landscape . Ballon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Thairé in the north and northwest, Le Thou in the north and northeast, Ciré-d'Aunis in the east, Breuil-Magné in the south and southeast and Yves in the south and west.
