economy
Together with Montceau-les-Mines , Le Creusot forms a small industrial area.
The local economy is mainly characterized by metalworking industries such as Industeel , SIAG France ( Schaaf Industrie ) and Snecma . Messrs. Schneider-Creusot or Schneider & Cie , now Schneider Electric was a great historical national pioneer in this field. The origin of this branch of industry and the armaments and reactor industry represented in the city today , including the Creusot Forge company , which got into talk at the beginning of 2016 due to manipulated test reports from Europe-wide supplied nuclear reactor , was the founding of the Royal Foundry by François Ignace de Wendel and William Wilkinson in 1781. The coal deposits in the area made the small village at that time an excellent location for the manufacture of cannons for the navy : As early as 1820, Aaron Manby owned France's largest iron foundry .
