The FA Cup 1999/2000 was the 119th staging of the world's oldest soccer cup tournament; The Football Association Challenge Cup , or FA Cup for short . The cup competition ended with the final on May 20, 2000. It was the last final of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium , inaugurated in 1923 ; it made way for the new stadium. From 2001, the final was therefore temporarily held in the Cardiffer Millennium Stadium . The winner of this event was Chelsea .
The defending champions Manchester United did not take part in the competition because they competed in the first ever FIFA Club World Cup in Brazil in 2000 . So who took Darlington FC as a lucky loser 's place ManUtd into the third main round.

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Any team that has a certain level of performance and an appropriate playing field can take part. The game is played i. d. Usually only with a first leg. In the event of a tie, a second leg takes place. If the second leg also ends in a draw, the game goes into extra time or penalty shoot-out. This mode lasts until the sixth main round. From the semi-finals onwards there is only one game, possibly with extra time and penalty shoot-out. Each winner receives a bonus from the television money, which is staggered according to the round.
Main round
First main round
The games were played between November 29th and 2nd, 1999. The replay took place from November 8-16, 1999.
Second main round
The games were played between November 19 and 21, 1999. The replays followed on November 30th of that year.
Third main round
The games were played on December 10-13, 1999. Necessary replay games were scheduled for December 21, 1999 to January 8, 2000.
Fourth main round
The games took place on January 8th and 11th, 2000. The required replay matches were played on January 18th and 19th.
