The 2009/10 season was the 20th season of the women's Bundesliga . The season began on September 20, 2009 and ended with the last game day on May 9, 2010.

In addition to Potsdam, FCR 2001 Duisburg qualified for the Champions League . The relegated SC Freiburg and last year's promoted Tennis Borussia Berlin .

The top scorer was Inka Grings from runner-up FCR 2001 Duisburg with 28 goals.

Closing table

Defending champion 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam was able to defend the championship title on the penultimate matchday with a 1-0 win over SC 07 Bad Neuenahr . Bianca Schmidt scored the goal of the day. The “Turbines” suffered their only defeat on matchday 20 when they lost a 1-0 lead at 1. FFC Frankfurt and lost 2-1. In addition to Potsdam, FCR Duisburg entered the Champions League in 2001. The 1. FFC Frankfurt, on the other hand, missed qualifying for the European Cup for the second time in a row. VfL Wolfsburg showed a strong improvement, with fifth place securing the best final placement in the single-track Bundesliga era.

The biggest surprise of the season was the relegation of the promoted 1. FC Saarbrücken . The Saarland women had lost seven top performers before the season and were therefore considered the number one relegation candidate. After nine years of excellence, SC Freiburg and Tennis Borussia Berlin had to relegate.
