Geroiskoje ( Russian Геройское , German Goythenen ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Selenogradsk in Zelenogradsky District .
Geographical location
Geroiskoje is 22 kilometers northwest of the city of Kaliningrad (Königsberg) and two kilometers south of Romanowo (Pobethen) on a side road, the Romanowo (on the Russian trunk road A 192 ) with Rodniki (Radnicken) and Nisowka (Nadrau) (on the main road Kaliningrad - Cholmogorowka (Fuchsberg) - Zelenogradsk) connects. The nearest train station is Romanowo on the Kaliningrad – Swetlogorsk (Koenigsberg – Rauschen) line , the former Samland Railway .
history
The small Samlanddorf called Goythenen until 1946 was founded in 1398. From 1874 to 1945, it belonged to the District Pobethen in district Königsberg (Prussia) - 1939-1945 County Samland - in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia .
As a result of the war, Goythenen came to the Soviet Union within the whole of northern East Prussia in 1945 . In 1950 the place was given the Russian name “Geroiskoje” (from Russian geroi for “hero”) and at the same time was assigned to the village soviet Romanowski selski sovet in Primorsk Raion . From 2005 to 2015 Geroiskoje belonged to the rural municipality of Kovrovskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the city district of Zelenogradsk.

church
The predominantly Protestant population of Goythenen before 1945 was incorporated into the parish of the parish church in Pobethen (today Russian: Romanowo). It belonged to the parish of Fischhausen (Primorsk) within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Geroiskoje is located in the catchment area of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Zelenogradsk (Cranz) , a subsidiary of the Resurrection Church in Kaliningrad (Königsberg) within the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
