Schirokopolje ( Russian Широкополье , German Roppen ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Selenogradsk in Zelenogradsky District .
Geographical location
Shirokopolje is located 22 kilometers northeast of the oblast capital Kaliningrad (Königsberg) and 12 kilometers southeast of the district town Zelenogradsk (Cranz) on a side road that connects Khrabrovo (Powunden) with Lugovskoye (Lobitten) . There is no train connection.
history
The place called Roppen until 1946 was founded in 1469 and in 1945 actually only consisted of a large farm. In 1874 the estate village Roppen was in the newly built office district Powunden incorporated and belonged to the district Königsberg (Prussia) (1939-1945 district Samland ) in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia . On January 11, 1896, the village of Roppen became part of the rural community of Powunden and remained a part of it until 1945.
As a result of the war, northern East Prussia came to the Soviet Union with Roppen in 1945 . The place received the Russian name Schirokopolje in 1950 and was assigned at the same time to the village soviet Novoselski selski Sowet in Gurjewsk Rajon . Later the place came to the Muromski selski Sowet in Zelenogradsk Raion . From 2005 to 2015, Shirokopolje belonged to the rural municipality of Kovrovskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the city district of Zelenogradsk.

Until 1945, due to its predominantly Protestant population, Roppen was a place in the parish of Powunden (today in Russian: Chrabrowo). That belonged to the parish of Königsberg-Land II in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today, Schirokopolje is located in the catchment area of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Zelenogradsk (Cranz) , a subsidiary of the Resurrection Church in Kaliningrad (Königsberg) in the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
