Konská (Hungarian Konszka ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 227 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Liptovský Mikuláš , part of the Žilinský kraj , and is part of the traditional Liptov region .

The municipality is located in the central part of the Liptovská kotlina basin (part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina ) in the narrow valley of the Konský potok , below the Western Tatras . The municipality extends in the Western Tatras up to the Baranec mountain ( 2184  m nm ). The center of the village lies at an altitude of 755  m nm and is 12 kilometers away from Liptovský Mikuláš .

Neighboring municipalities are Jamník in the north and northeast, Jakubovany in the east, Liptovský Ondrej in the south and west and Liptovský Mikuláš (cadastral municipality Svätý Štefan) in the northwest.

history

Konská arose in what was then the municipality of Uhorská Ves on land that a certain Egidius and his descendants received from Sohl's Count Doncs and was first mentioned in writing in 1357 as Weresmihalfalua . In 1391 the village belonged to the noble Andreánsky family and partly to the Detrich family . In 1784 the village had 21 houses and 144 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 23 houses and 221 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.

The place in Liptov County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia and finally to Slovakia. In 1934 there were unsuccessful attempts to mine coal near Konská.

From 1976 to 1990 Konská was part of the neighboring municipality Liptovský Ondrej.

According to the 2011 census, there were 215 inhabitants in Konská, of which 209 were Slovaks and three Czechs . Three residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity.

148 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB, 34 residents the Roman Catholic Church, four residents of another denomination, three residents of the Evangelical Methodist Church and one resident of the Old Catholic Church. 19 residents had no denomination and the denomination of six residents was not determined.
