Posta Fibreno is a municipality in the province of Frosinone in the Italian region of Lazio with 1092 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located 119 km east of Rome and 38 km northeast of Frosinone .

Posta Fibreno is located on a steep hill above the Fibreno Valley in the Ciociaria countryside . It is a member of the Comunità Montana Valle di Comino . The districts are next to the old town (Centro Storico) Camminate, Campo Gizzi, Carpello, Casalvittoria, Colle Roccia, Cona, Lollo, Piscina, Pizzone and Tagliata.

The neighboring towns are Alvito , Broccostella , Campoli Appennino , Fontechiari and Vicalvi .

Lake Posta Fibreno

Riserva Naturale Lago di Posta Fibreno

In the valley below the old town extends the Lago di Posta Fibreno , which forms the center of a 400 hectare nature park. It was founded in 1983 in cooperation with the WWF . The lake is particularly rich in fish, including the Carpione del Fibreno, a species of trout ( Salmo fibreni ), endemic to the lake. Another special feature is a floating island with a diameter of 30 m, which was already described by Pliny .
