As in previous years, the regional nominations were expanded. There were regional nominations for Germany, France, Denmark, Italy, the Nordic countries, Poland, Spain as well as the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The winners of the evening were Madonna and Eminem , who each received two EMAs.
