Mortefontaine is a French municipality with 854 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . Mortefontaine belongs to the arrondissement of Senlis and the canton of Senlis (until 2015: Thourotte ). The inhabitants are called Mortefontainois .

geography

Mortefontaine is on the border with the Val-d'Oise department , at the foothills of the Chantilly forest . Mortefontaine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Thiers-sur-Théve in the north and north-west, Fontaine-Chaalis in the north and north-east, Ver-sur-Launette in the east, Othis in the south-east, Moussy-le-Neuf in the south and Plailly in the west. Mortefontaine has an exclave southwest of the actual parish. It is surrounded by Plailly to the north, east and south and Saint-Witz to the west.

The former route nationale 322 (today's D922) runs through the municipality .
