Barbados took part in the Summer Olympics for the seventh time in the 1996 Summer Olympics. The team consisted of 13 athletes, of which eleven were men and two were women. They started in 21 competitions in seven sports. The youngest participant was swimmer Nicky Neckles at 17 years and 242 days, the oldest was sailor Rodney Reader at 35 years and 30 days. The Barbados flag was carriedinto the Olympic Stadiumby athlete Obadele Thompson during the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996.
