Cape Verde took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with four athletes, one woman and three men, in three competitions in one sport.
It was the first time the African state took part in the Summer Olympics .
Flag bearer
Manuel Jesús Rodrigues carried the flag of Cape Verde during the opening ceremony on July 19th at the Centennial Olympic Stadium .
