The ATP tournament in Johannesburg (officially SA Tennis Open , until 1995 South African Open ) was a South African men's tennis tournament . The competition was first held in Johannesburg in 1976 and, after minor interruptions in the early 1990s, when it was replaced by the tournaments in Durban and Sun City , and after a break from 1996 to 2008, it was held again in 2009. With the event in 2011, the ATP World Tour 250 tournament was finally discontinued. The game was played on hard courts.

In the singles only the American Vitas Gerulaitis was able to win the tournament more than once with two wins. If you include the events in Durban and Sun City, you can also name his compatriot Aaron Krickstein with two titles as a record winner; in doubles the South African Frew McMillan was most successful with four titles.
