history

Local history

Schönfließ was created in 1372 by the Teutonic Order according to Kulm law . It was exempt from taxes for 14 years . An area of 65 Włóka belonged to the village,  six of which belonged to the village mayor and four to the church.

In 1874 Schönfließ was incorporated into the newly established Tolksdorf district (Polish Tołkiny ). Until 1945 he belonged to the district of Rastenburg in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . On October 11, 1927, parts of the manor district Seeligenfeld (Polish Błogoszewo ) in the district of Paaris (Polish Parys ) were incorporated into the manor district Schönfließ. On September 30, 1928, the rural community of Schönfließ finally merged with the Henriettenhof estate ( Chmielnik in Polish ) to form the new rural community of Schönfließ.

At the end of the Second World War the Red Army occupied the area and as a result of the war Schönfliess came to Poland. In 1954 Kraskowo became the seat of a gromada . In 1958, after a restructuring of the Gomada, 25 localities belonged to the Gromada Kraskowo, which were divided into seven Schulzenämter. In 1960 the Gromada had an area of 72.83 km². In 1970 the village of Kraskowo had an eight-grade elementary school and a kindergarten.

Kraskowo is today the seat of a Schulzenamt (Polish Sołectwo ) and as such a place in the network of the urban and rural community Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Crossroads in Kraskowo

Church building

The eastern part of the church was built at the end of the 14th century, the western part followed at the beginning of the 15th century. The provost in charge was Gregorius Zeber in 1480 and Jodocus Borkee in 1495 . The parish continued to include the village of Babziens ( Babieniec in Polish ) and from 1510 also the church in Tolksdorf ( Tołkiny ). From 1528 to 1550 the parish was assigned to the parish in Lamgarben ( Garbno ). In 1678 the vestry and vestibule were built on the northern part . Christof Herndorff stands at the entrance to the vestibule on May 13th, 1678 , the meaning is not explained. From the 18th century, services were also held in Polish. In 1817 there were 1,077 residents in the parish. In 1875 the upper floor was rebuilt after a severe storm.

The altar from 1645 is still partially preserved today. A picture of the Last Supper by Stephanus Eisenbergk can be seen on the base of the altar. The pulpit dates from 1648 but is probably no longer in the church.

Parish

Evangelical

Already in the pre-Reformation period there was a church in Schönfließ, which became Protestant with the introduction of the Reformation . Until 1945, Schönfließ was the seat of the parish of the Church of the Old Prussian Union, united with the Church of Tolksdorf ( Tołkiny in Polish ) . The total number of church members in 1925 was 1520, of which 1160 belonged to the parish of Schönfließ. The Schönfließer church patronage was incumbent on the landowner of Henriettenhof ( Chmielnik in Polish ).

Flight and expulsion of the local population as a result of the war put an end to the life of the Protestant church in the village then called Kraskowo. The few Protestant residents living here today belong to the St. John's Church in Kętrzyn within the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Catholic

Before 1945 only a few Catholic church members lived in Schönfließ . From 1904 they belonged to the church in Korschen (in Polish: Korsze ) in the Diocese of Warmia . The settlement of new Polish citizens after 1945 made the number of Catholics so high that the previously Protestant church was transferred to the Catholic Church. The Schönfließer church is now a branch church of the parish Łankiejmy (Polish Langheim ) and bears the name of the " Mother of God of Czestochowa ". She belongs to the dean's office Reszel (Rößel) in the Archdiocese of Warmia .
