The Segunda División 1970/71 was the 40th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 6, 1970 and ended on June 6, 1971. Between June 13 and June 20, 1971, the relegation games were played. Master was Betis Sevilla .
Before the season
The 20 teams met twice on 38 match days. The four best teams rose to the Primera División .
The last three clubs were relegated directly, the teams in positions 14 to 17 had to fight relegation against relegation.
Relegated from the Primera División took Deportivo La Coruna , RCD Mallorca and Pontevedra CF part. From the Tercera División came FC Cádiz , Hércules Alicante , UP Langreo , CD Logroñés , CD Colonia Moscardó , Real Santander and FC Villarreal .
