Weeg is a hamlet that belongs to the town of Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

Weeg is located in the northeast of the urban area of ​​Lohmar. Surrounding villages and hamlets are Hohn (Lohmar) and Kattwinkel in the north, Höffen and Mailahn in the northeast, Naaf , Büchel , Naafmühle and Bloch in the east, Rengert in the southeast, Hausdorp in the south, Höfferhof , Hausen , Jüchen and Dorpmühle in the southwest, Mackenbach , Kirchbach and Grube Pilot in the west, Wahlscheid and Münchhof in the northwest.

The Kirchbach rises northwest of Weeg, an orographically left tributary of the Agger . The Atzenbach rises south of Weeg, also a left tributary of the Agger.

Weeg is dominated by agriculture and is accordingly surrounded by large contiguous meadow areas that are used for livestock and arable farming. The Kirchbach as well as the Atzenbach are bordered by forest.

history

Weeg was owned by the Michaelsberg Abbey very early on. According to a document from the period from 1358-1364, which says that the Siegburg abbot, Nikolaus von Lahnstein, transferred the income from the purchased farm to weg bei Wahlscheid in the amount of 30 marks to the hospital for the poor at the foot of the monastery mountain. On the Ploennis map from 1715 there is Wech, referred to as Freihof and several courtyards. The name Weeg can be found in the Tranchot card from 1817. A map from 1824 shows nine houses in Weeg.

In 1885 Weeg had 52 residents who lived in eleven houses.

According to an address book from 1901, there were five farm workers , a blacksmith , a saddler , a carpenter , a baker and a landlord in the village of Weeg .

Until August 1, 1969, the place belonged to the previously independent municipality Wahlscheid .

Culture and sights

  • The half-timbered restaurant (Weeg 11) and the half-timbered courtyard (Weeg 15) are under monument protection . and are listed in the list of architectural monuments of the city of Lohmar under No. 155 (Weeg 11) and No. 156 (Weeg 15).
  • The residents of Weeg traditionally take part in the car parade of the Wahlscheider fair.
  • Weeg is a good location to start a hike in the Naafbachtal nature reserve east of Weeg.
  • There is a crossroads on the county road in Weeg. The simple inscription reads: "Sinner, see your work."
