A short time later, Jost Braun met Strowman and doubted the authenticity of the WWE fights, whereupon Strowman choked it and announced that they would meet again at WrestleMania.

A week later, Strowman received an official apology in the form of a new car from Jost, but Strowman took the car apart and threatened in his direction that he would get his fists felt at WrestleMania.

At the Raw edition on March 25th, Braun Strowman was a guest in an edition of “A Moment of Bliss” which was broadcast live to the studio of “Saturday Night Live”. Colin Just asked Strowman to pay for the damage to the destroyed car, but Strowman gave him to understand that he had better be part of the upcoming WrestleMania Battle Royal, otherwise he would track it down and tear it apart at the event even without a match. Michael Che agreed on behalf of his colleague, who then nominated Che for the fight. Alexa Bliss then made the two commentators' participation official as host of the event.

During the match Colin Jost and Michael Che rolled out of the ring and hid under it until shortly before the end. When Strowman, Che and Jost were the last three remaining players in the match, Jost tried to prevent Strowman from continuing the match with the help of a therapist. WWE Universal Championship

Seth Rollins

Brock Lesnar (C) versus Seth Rollins

Brock Lesnar won the Universal Title at the WWE Crown Jewels event on November 2, 2018 in Riyadh / Saudi Arabia in a match against Brown Strowman. Seth Rollins got a title chance against a champion of his choice at WrestleMania by winning the Royal Rumble on January 27, 2019. As early as the next day's Raw edition, Rollins had to choose an opponent, either challenging WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar or WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. Before he could announce his decision, he was interrupted by Paul Heyman , who entered the hall accompanied by his client Brock Lesnar. He recommended Rollis a match against Bryan because he wouldn't stand a chance against Lesnar. Rollins then attacked Lesnar, whereupon it became clear which title he would compete for at WrestleMania.

While in the coming weeks little taunts were exchanged between Rollins, Lesnar and his legal representative Paul Heyman, there was another tangible argument in the last edition of Raw before WrestleMania, in which Rollins dealt two blows against Lesnar and triumphantly with the after his finishers raised belt posed over Lesnar.

At WrestleMania, an angry Paul Heyman stormed onto the stage and complained that his client Brock Lesnar was not in this year's main event of WrestleMania and he didn't feel like sitting backstage any longer and waiting for his performance, so find the match right at the beginning of the show. On his way to the ring, Rollins was attacked by Lesnar and thrown against the ring barricades, the ring screen and first over the German commentator's desk and then through the cover. After Rollins came into the ring visibly battered, the match officially started. Lesnar dominated the match at will, but he accidentally pushed the referee out of the ring when Rollins tried to escape and Rollins used this short absence for another low blow, which influenced the match decisively in his direction. After three finishing moves, Rollins was finally able to prevail against Brock Lesnar and win the first universal title of his career.

AJ Styles versus Randy Orton

AJ styles

In the February 26, 2019 issue of Smackdown, Styles gave an interview in the backstage area of the show and stated that despite the setbacks in recent weeks and his unsuccessful attempt to win Daniel Bryan's WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble, he was still the one who makes this show what it is right now. During that interview, Randy Orton came along, questioned Styles' statements, and disappeared again.

At the next edition, Styles in the backstage area will be asked about the current situation around Kofi Kingston and his failed title match at Fastlane. Styles stood behind Kingston and found that Kingston had been cheated out of his match. Orton came back and made fun of Styles and his views, in the end he gave Styles to understand that with such views it would be no wonder that Styles would have made it to WWE after 15 years in professional wrestling.

Also in the Smackdown edition on March 12th, 2019 Orton made fun of the fact that Styles had to fight through “lower class” Indi leagues for many years to get here. Styles countered that Orton had only got the contract with the WWE through his father and then also needed the help of Triple H, Ric Flair and Batista. In order to resolve these differences, he challenged him to a match at WrestleMania. Orton left this challenge unanswered for the time being and it was only when he attacked Styles in his match against Kurt two weeks later that he officially accepted the challenge. In the last edition of Smackdown before the big event, both Styles and Orton were guests on the internal talk show MizTV. In this they incited each other with their past and the show ended with a wild fight between the two.

In the match at WrestleMania, AJ Styles was finally able to secure victory over Randy Orton.

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship

The Usos

The Usos (C) against The Bar ( Cesaro & Sheamus ) against Ricochet & Aleister Black against Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev

At the major WWE No Escape event, the Usos were able to win the Smackdown Tag Team title from Shane McMahon and The Miz and defend it against the two in the rematch at WWE Fastlane.

Because the Usos refused to play against Xavier Woods and Big E in the Gauntletmatch in the Smackdown edition on March 26, 2019, Alexa Bliss declared a week later in her role as host of WrestleMania that the Usos had won their title in an 8- because of this refusal. Mann tag team match against The Bar (Cesaro & Sheamus), Ricochet & Aleister Black and Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev.

The match at WrestleMania won the Usos and were thus able to successfully defend their title.

Shane McMahon versus The Miz

Shane McMahon

At WWE Crown Jewels, the first WWE event in Saudi Arabia, there was a tournament in which eight Superstars competed to choose the “best wrestler in the world”, after The Miz in the first round Jeff Hardy and in the second round Rey Mysterio was able to eliminate, should he meet Dolph Ziggler in the final . Before this match could start, a wild brawl broke out between Ziggler and The Miz, in which The Miz apparently injured himself and could not compete for the match. So that the match did not go to Ziggler without a fight, the then Smackdown Commissioner Shane McMahon took action himself. He defeated Ziggler and thus not only won the match, but also the entire tournament.

Since The Miz competed for most of this tournament, he felt that a tag team between himself and Shane McMahon would have to be the next logical step and that would make them “the best tag team in the world”. In the following weeks, The Miz tried to convince McMahon of his idea. He organized matches against other tag teams kept talking to him and was finally able to win him over as a partner. In the January 9, 2019 issue of Smackdown, The Miz challenged the reigning Tag Team Champions Cesaro and Sheamus for a title chance and at the Royal Rumble, The Miz and McMahon actually won the title.

In the first Smackdown edition of the Royal Rumble, there was a victory celebration for the freshly baked Champions, to which the father of The Miz was invited, because a few weeks ago, The Miz had opened his partner that he envied the pride of Vince McMahon on is his son and that he would never have felt that pride in his father. But at this celebration, his father told him for the first time how proud he was of his achievements.

At the same time, Shane McMahon announced that there would be a Fatal Four Way Match that same evening to find the next challenger for the upcoming major No Escape event. This match was won by the Usos, who also won the title in the match that was then scheduled.

A week later, The Miz apologized to Shane McMahon for blaming himself for the defeat. He would like to challenge the Usos to a rematch at WWE Fastlane and the Usos accepted that challenge.

At Fastlane, the Usos managed to successfully defend their titles. Shane and The Miz want to leave the hall dejected when Shane suddenly attacked The Miz with punches and kicks, and then got violent against his father.

In the following issue of Smackdown, Shane McMahon announces that he is tired of being constantly exploited by people and that he will now make an example of The Miz how an employee should behave towards his boss.

In the next two weeks, both The Miz and McMahon had promos. The Miz talked about how he wasn't born rich, but had to work hard to earn respect and success. In addition, although he is an employee of the WWE, he is not McMahon's serf, over whom he can decide at will. He also schedules a Falls Count Anywhere match for WrestleMania. McMahon, on the other hand, continues to make fun of The Miz and his family and even refers to him as his parents' “Miztake”.

During the match at WrestleMania, The Miz was briefly beaten outside the ring and when Shane was about to take action, The Miz's father stood protectively in front of his son. This action amused Shane McMahon so much that he asked him to join him in the ring and fight him. He made fun of his fighting stance, even corrected it and finally attacked him with kicks and punches. After The Miz recovered, they fought their way across the interior of the MetLife Stadium with chairs and other items until they finally got to a camera tower. Shane fled up this, but was put upstairs by The Miz. This put on a suplex and both fell down the camera tower. In the fall, Shane McMahon fell on The Miz in such a way that the referee counted the pin and declared Shane the winner.

WWE Women's Tag Team Championship

The IIconics

The Boss 'n' Hug Connection ( Sasha Banks & Bayley ) (C) versus Natalya & Beth Phoenix versus The IIconics ( Peyton Royce & Billie Kay ) versus Tamina & Nia Jax

In the Christmas edition of RAW on December 24th, Vince McMahon announced that there will be a new WWE Women's Tag Team Championship from February, which is not linked to a squad, but will be defended in all three brands. Unlike other titles, this one is newly introduced and therefore does not bear the lineage of the previous title.

In the January 14th edition of Raw there was an episode of the talk show “A Moment of Bliss” the presentation of the new title belt and the announcement that there will be matches on both Raw and Smackdown for the two beginner teams for six Team Tag Team Match (3 teams each from Raw and Smackdown) at No Escape. While the three Smackdown teams were automatically set for this match, the three raw teams first had to qualify by beating another team. Nia Jax and Tamina qualified by beating Alexa Bliss and Mickie James, the Riott Squatt defeated Natalya and Dana Brooke and Sascha Banks and Bayley won against Nikki Cross and Alicia Fox.

The match at No Escape on February 17, 2019 was won by Sasha Banks and Bayley against the teams Fire & Desire (Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose), The IIconics (Peyton Royce and Billie Kay), Fabulous Glow (Carmella and Naomi), The Riott Squatt (Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan) and the team made up of Nia Jax and Tamina and become the first WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.

In the following weeks there were repeated arguments on Raw between Team Boss 'n' Hug Connection and Tamina / Nia Jax, in which Natalya and her new tag team partner Beth Phoenix interfered. At WWE Fastlane there was a title match between the Boss 'n' Hug Connection and the Tamina / Nia Jax team that the champions won. The IIconics complained in the March 12th issue of Smackdown that the new champions had previously only defended their titles against teams from Raw and therefore challenged the champions directly for a match in the coming week that they could even win and thereby added to the pre-existing feud with the other teams.

At WrestleMania, the IIconics won the Tag Team Championship for the first time.

WWE Championship

Kofi Kingston

Daniel Bryan (C) versus Kofi Kingston

Daniel Bryan wins the title in the November 13, 2018 issue of AJ Styles' Smackdown.

He is supposed to defend this against five other opponents in a traditional Elimination Chamber Match. Mustafa Ali was supposed to be part of this match, but since he was unable to play due to an eye injury, he was replaced by Kofi Kingston.

At No Escape, Daniel Bryan successfully defended his title against Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy.

In the subsequent February 26th edition of Smackdown, Shane McMahon announced that Kofi Kingston would have his first chance to compete for the WWE Champion title in an individual match in eleven years because of his outstanding performance at Elimination Chamber.

However, when signing the deal a week later, WWE General Manager Vince McMahon announced that such a match should be reserved for a “bigger man” and replaced Kingston with Kevin Owens without further explanation.

On the evening of the Fastlane event, Kofi Kingston was called into Vince McMahon's office and told that he would be part of a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship. When he entered the ring, however, it turned out that it would be a 2-on-1 handicap match against Cesaro and Sheamus and that Kofi lost due to the outnumbered situation. In the actual title match that night, Kingston was replaced by Mustafa Ali, who got the match in compensation for missing out on No Escape.

In the next issue of Smackdown, Vince McMahon addressed the situation at Fastlane again. He said he just gave Kingston what he wanted, a chance for the WWE title. But since he couldn't use them, he wouldn't have earned any more. After The New Day appeared in the ring and demanded a fair chance for Kingston, McMahon agreed and gave Kingston for the coming week to prove himself in a Gauntlet match against five other Superstars.

The following Tuesday, Kingston faced Sheamus, Cesaro, Rowan , Samoa Joe and Randy Orton in the Gauntlet Match . He actually managed to defeat all the superstars, but before he could celebrate, Vince McMahon announced that Kingston had to defeat one last opponent to get the title match. Daniel Bryan stepped out and pinned Kingston after a brief match.

Vince McMahon and The New Day chatted the following week about their role in WWE and that McMahon would not take them seriously, both as individuals and as a tag team. McMahon said yes, but admitted that Big E and Xavier Wood could convince him otherwise by winning a Tag Team Gauntlet match on today's show and using this victory to use the last chance for a title match. The New Day agreed and eventually won the Gauntlet match against teams Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows, Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev, The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro), The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) and Daniel Bryan & Rowan. The Uso twins voluntarily skipped the match because they believed Kingston deserved the match.

At WrestleMania, Kofi Kingston beat Daniel Bryan and won the WWE Championship for the first time. After the match, The New Day presented the new / old title that Daniel Bryan had previously exchanged as part of his gimmick.

United States Championship

Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe (C) versus Rey Mysterio

In the March 5, 2019 edition of Raw, the reigning United States Champion R-Truth announced an open challenge for his title. With Samoa Joe, Rey Mysterio and Andrade, three superstars took up this challenge and in the Fatal 4 Way Match that followed immediately, Samoa Joe won the US title for the first time.

This match pairing also existed at WWE Fastlane, where Samoa Joe was able to successfully defend his title.

A week later, Rey Mysterio won a match at R-Truth's side against Samoa Joe and Andrade, which is why he demanded and got a title match at WrestleMania in the March 19 issue. At WrestleMania, Mysterio had to knock Samoa Joe's surrender hold after just sixty seconds, making this match one of the shortest in WrestleMania history.

Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns versus Drew McIntyre

On October 22, 2018, Roman Reigns made his leukemia disease public during the Raw edition . This forced him to drop his universal championship and take a treatment break of several months.

After four months of treatment, Reigns was able to get back into the ring on February 25, 2019 and directly contest and win a match against the team of Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley at the upcoming major event WWE Fastlane with his tag team partners Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins .

In the March 18, 2019 edition of Raw, McIntyre challenged Reigns for a match at WrestleMania, which Reigns took on with an attack on McIntyre a week later.

At WrestleMania Reigns was able to win against McIntyre in the first individual match after his return.

Batista versus Triple H

Triple H

On February 25th, Batista made his comeback on the Raw edition after five years of absence by attacking Ric Flair at his 70th birthday party in order to get Triple H's attention by attacking his former mentor.

A week later, Triple H responded to Batista's attack. Flair is in critical condition and that is why he asked Batista for an explanation and why he did not speak to him directly. After there had only been a brief verbal argument in the previous week, the two opponents met for the first time a week later. Batista demanded a match according to his ideas, but Triple H did not want to allow him this, as he found that someone who repeatedly terminates his contract with the WWE without giving reasons should not make any demands. Batista then countered that he only quit because Triple H wanted to deliberately “keep him small” and that he was afraid of him. Should he not get his match at WrestleMania, he threatened that otherwise he would injure someone close to Triple H every week. He then agreed and a No Holds Barred Match was scheduled.

There was an interview between Batista and Michael Cole in the March 18th edition of Raw. When asked why Batista demands a match against his former companion, Batista replied that this rivalry began long before they were together in the "Evolution" group, because everyone attributed their own successes to the fact that Triple H had looked after them and these groups existed only to protect Triple H itself. He also stated that without Triple H he rose to become a successful movie star and never needed his help.

Two weeks before WrestleMania, Triple H received a letter from Batista's attorney. In this letter he was asked to accept another clause for the upcoming match. If Batista wins the match, Triple H will have to end his active wrestling career.

At WrestleMania, Triple H defeated Batista after Ric Flair intervened in the match, ruling it out in Triple H's favor.

Baron Corbin

Kurt Angle versus Baron Corbin

After WrestleMania 33 in 2017, Kurt Angle was named general manager of Monday Night Raw on a storline, but on June 4, 2018, Baron Corbin of the McMahon family was appointed as constable to oversee his work. In the time leading up to the major TLC event in December, Corbin exploited his new power and sabotaged the work of Angle wherever he could. He changed the type of match, added wrestlers, or restarted matches that had already ended without further explanation. Finally, he replaces Angle as acting general manager on the August 20th episode of Raw. After the big TLC event, Corbin was fired as general manager, which ended the feud after a last match between the two.

On the March 12th edition of Raw, Kurt Angle announced in his hometown of Pittsburgh that he would play the last match of his career at this year's WrestleMania, and a week later Angle announced that that last match would be Baron Corbin as his opponent , in his opinion, there was an open account between the two of them through their common storyline around the post of general manager at Raw and which he now wants to finally clarify.

At WrestleMania Angle lost to Corbin, but minutes after the match the fans celebrated and said goodbye with his typical “you suck” shouts.

WWE Intercontiental Championship

Finn Bálor

Bobby Lashley (C) versus Finn Bálor

After his return from Total Nonstop Action Wrestling to the WWE in April 2018, Lashley initially didn't play a major role in the WWE's plans, but this changed on September 17th when he played a so-called “hype man” with 205 Live Superstar Lio Rush the side got put. He was from now on as a support in his corner of the ring and also helped him to celebrate his first intercontinental title reign in the Raw broadcast on January 14, 2019 in a triple threat match against Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose .

This title reign lasted just under a month until the big event No Escape, because there Finn Bálor was able to prevail in a 2-on-1 handicap match against Lashley and Lio Rush and take the title from him.

After several matches between Bálor, Lashley and Rush, Lashley was able to take advantage of another title chance and secure the title for the second time in the Raw broadcast on March 11th.

By winning a 2-on-1 handicap match against Lashley and Jinder Mahal, Finn Bálor got another title chance, this time for WrestleMania.

At WrestleMania Bálor competed with his Demon Gimmik, defeated Lahley and became Intercontiental Champion for the second time.

WWE Raw Women´s Championship- WWE Smackdown Women´s Championship

Becky Lynch

Ronda Rousey (C) versus Charlotte Flair (C) versus Becky Lynch

At Summerslam on August 19, 2018, Ronda Rousey won the WWE Raw Women´s title from Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch won the WWE Smackdown Women´s title at Hell in a Cell on September 16 from Charlotte Flair. From this loss of title an intense feud between Lynch and Flair arose. In the run-up to the Survivor Series event, Lynch led an invasion of the Smackdown Superstars on Raw on November 12, 2018, including attacking reigning Raw title holder Rousey for a statement for the upcoming Champion vs. Set Champion Match. However, Lynch suffered a broken nose that same evening after Nia Jax hit her unhappily in the face in an argument. The scheduled match between her and Rousey was then canceled and Lynch selected Charlotte as a substitute. In the Survivor Series Match, Fair Rousey deliberately attacked Rousey with a kendo stick, was disqualified and a feud began between the two women.

After Lynch returned from her injury break, she had to defend her title against Charlotte Flair and Asuka at the major TLC event on December 16. In this match she lost her title gold to Asuka, because Rousey intervened decisively in the match by knocking over the ladder on which Lynch and Flair were, thus giving Asuka enough time to be able to unhindered her belt. At the Royal Rumble on January 27, 2019 Becky Lynch got her rematch against Asuka, but could not win it. In the women's Royal Rumble Match, Lynch came into the hall shortly before the end of the match and convinced those responsible to take the place of Lana, who had injured her leg in the kickoff show and was attacked several times by Nia Jax on her way to the ring had been. Although she was injured in the knee by Nia Jax during this match, she was able to win the match through the elimination of Charlotte Flair and thus secure a title chance against a champion of her choice at Wrestlemania and in the Raw edition on the following day In the evening she challenged WWE Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey.

A week later, Stephanie McMahon, as Raw Manager , spoke to Lynch about her knee injury sustained at Royal Rumble and the imperative to have it checked by the WWE doctors. Due to her refusal to undergo an examination, Lynch was officially suspended pending an investigation into the severity of the injury. Lynch then attacked Stephanie McMahon and left the hall.

The next day, Charlotte Flair expressed her desire to take Lynch's place at Wrestlemania. Lynch then went into the ring to confront Flair. This also caused Triple H to come into the hall to remind Lynch of their existing suspension. An argument ensues between the two, which ends with Lynch slapping her manager on the face.

A week later, Triple H and his wife Stefanie McMahon announced on Raw that Lynch had undergone an examination, but only by their personal GP. They would be willing to acknowledge this result, but only on condition that Lynch apologizes to them personally. After Lynch finally apologized, Vince McMahon entered the hall and made it clear that he was still making decisions about the scheduling of matches and that he was not going to let Lynch's disrespect get away with. He then suspended Lynch again and this time for a period of time that does not allow participation in the WrestleMania Match and at the same time he presented Charlotte Flair as a substitute participant.

At WWE No Escape, after Ronda Rousey's title match against Ruby Riott, there was a star down between Rousey and her new challenger Charlotte Flair. Meanwhile, Lynch came to the ring and attacked both women with her crutch. Despite the many attacks on himself, Rousey stands behind Lynch and calls on the official representatives of the WWE to lift the suspension of Becky Lynch, as they only want to compete against the best and not against opponents selected by the authority itself. Then she put the title down until Lynch got a chance at the title match at WrestleMania.

A week later the March 4th edition of Raw saw a conversation between Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and the announcement that there would be a title match at Fastlane for the now vacant WWE Raw Women's Title, provided Lynch had an explanation signs, which excludes any responsibility of the WWE for health consequences. After this was signed, Ronda Rousey came into the hall and demanded her title belt back. Despite the return of the title to Rousey, the match between Flair and Lynch was stipulated with the clause that Lynch will be added to the title match at WrestleMania if she wins, but if she does not get another title chance should she lose.

At Fastlane, Becky Lynch won against Charlotte Flair after Ronda Rousey intervened and decided the match in Lynch's favor. This set a triple threat match for WrestleMania.

In the weeks leading up to WrestleMania there were repeated verbal and physical arguments between the three women, which reached its preliminary climax when Charlotte Flair won the Smackdown Women's Title from Asuka in the Smackdown issue of March 26th and the match at WrestleMania was rewritten to a “winner takes all” match.

On April 7th, this match took place as the main event at WrestleMania and Becky Lynch became the first double title holder in WWE history with her victory.

Special occurrences

After the event ended around 12:30 a.m. local time, there were major problems transporting the visitors home. The visitors had to wait more than three hours in the pouring rain for their transport back to New York City. According to Jim Smith, the spokesman for the responsible New Jersey Transit , the WWE had decided at short notice not to end its event until around 00:30, so that the NJ Transit had no opportunity to coordinate its transport routes in time. Originally the event was supposed to end around midnight and everyone should be evacuated from the venue by around 1:00 a.m. With the WWE extending the event, NJ Transit had to send three of its six employee teams off work because they had exceeded their daily working hours due to federal restrictions. As a result, the NJ Transit had fewer buses and trains available for transport and the departure intervals were extended considerably. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy also interfered in the matter, declaring that he was solely responsible for the failure of the WWE.
