The 301st Infantry Division was a major unit of the Prussian army in the First World War .

The division was first deployed in the Romanian theater of war in September 1916 after its formation before it was moved to the Western Front.

1916

  • September 24th to November 9th - border fighting in the volcanic mountains
  • November 10-14 - Battle of Szurduk, breakthrough battle of Szurduk and Volcano Pass
  • November 16-17 - Battle of Targu-Jiu
  • November 18-23 - Persecution by Western Wallachia
  • November 24-27 - Fights on the lower Alt
  • December 1st to 5th - Battle of the Argesch
  • December 9-20 - Persecution fights against Jalomita-Prahova and Buzaul
  • December 21-27 - Battle of Rimnicul-Sarat
  • from December 28th - pursuit battles after the battle of Rimnicul-Sarat

1917

  • until 3 January - pursuit battles after the battle of Rimnicul-Sarat
  • January 4th to 8th - Battle of the Putna
  • January 9-22 - Trench warfare on the Putna and Sereth
  • January 22-29 - transport to the west
  • January 29 - position battle in the Upper Rhine

1918

  • until January 16 - trench warfare in Upper Alsace
  • January 16 to November 11 - Trench warfare in Lorraine and the Vosges
  • from November 12th - evacuation of the occupied territory and march home
