Brinay is about 60 kilometers east-southeast of Nevers in the Morvan . Brinay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Tamnay-en-Bazois in the north, Maux in the north-east, Limanton in the south and east, Biches in the west and south-west and Alluy in the west and north-west.
