The 1962/63 season was the fifth season of the Bundesliga , the highest German ice hockey league . German champion was EV Füssen , which won its tenth championship. Last year's winner EC Bad Tölz , who had been in first place for a long time in the preliminary round, ended the season in second place after just one win in the last six games. In the relegation there was a new edition of the previous year's duel between TuS Eintracht Dortmund and EV Landshut . This year the Niederbayern prevailed and were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time. For Dortmund this meant relegation from the top German league after three years.
